Ways to prevent animal abuse and neglect
1) Spay/neuter all pets and strays before
maturity (approximately 6 months of age)
2) Support the ASPCA legislative efforts for
your state
3) Write your congress men about issues
relating to pet protection.
4) Educate your friends and neighbors
about just how many loving animals are put
to death each year.
5) Consider animal adoption
6) Read training manuals and if you have
behavioral issues with your pet, call an
animal behavorialist/trainer.
7) If you cannot keep your pet, please find a
good home for it, bring it to a shelter or
bring it to an animal control center. Never
leave a pet behind or dump it in a park.
8) When you see animals being neglected
due to financial lack or health problems of
the current guardian/owner, offer help. If
the neglect continues or if you see animal
abuse report it to the authorities. (Often
this will be your local police department)
